Fill-in-the-Blank Poem
Where I'm From
From kick scooters & upstairs blanket forts
I am from long red hair & short stubby toes,
I am from green grass
(Freshly mown, with the tips swept into piles
As I prance behind the lawn mower my Father pushes around the yard)
I am from the 84062-4472-801,
Quesadillas & Nachos.
I am from literal garden salads with clovers as greens and dirt as salt.
I'm from "how was your day?"
And Rodney Atkin's "Watching You"
Even now,
I am from dewy sunrises,
Dew drops and rising sun,
Slow down, you're doing fine
